Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned, and when you’re faced with having fertility treatment, it can be an anxious and stressful time.
At The Evewell, we take a holistic approach, creating personalised IVF plans tailored to your unique fertility history and needs. Our consultants combine expertise in both gynaecology and fertility, offering a deep understanding of the female body to find the least invasive path to pregnancy.
Deciding if you need IVF is a personal and sometimes emotional decision. If you’ve been trying to conceive for a while without success, or if you have conditions such as PCOS, low sperm count, or endometriosis, IVF might be a suitable option for you to explore.
We don’t want you to go through extensive unnecessary treatment, so when you choose to have IVF at The Evewell, you’ll have an individualised plan holistically designed around your age, gynaecological health, fertility history and family goals.
Our comprehensive ‘conditions affecting fertility’ page offers detailed information on the various fertility issues we can help with.
An IVF cycle takes around one month from the day you start taking medication to your pregnancy test. It includes ovarian stimulation monitoring, egg collection, sperm preparation, fertilisation and culture of the embryos, and an embryo transfer procedure.
Once you’ve had your Initial Consultation, where you will have had the opportunity to discuss results from recent tests, any fertility history and/or previous treatment, and your future family plans with one of our fertility specialists, you’ll receive a treatment plan and costings, designed to deliver the best possible results for you.
During this stage, you will have the opportunity to speak to a member of our Patient Services team to ask any additional questions before starting your treatment.
We focus on aligning your IVF treatment with your life and natural cycle. Your IVF treatment begins only when you’re ready, avoiding the need for additional hormonal medication to fit your schedule to ours.
When you’re ready, all we ask is that you call us when your period starts. While this approach requires more effort on our part, it significantly reduces stress on your body.
The first step, and unique to The Evewell, is for you to have an embryology consultation with one of our leading embryologists, where you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions about the IVF process.
You’ll then get to spend time with one of our specialist fertility nurses, who will guide you through your treatment plan and explain the role of each medication and how to administer it.
Once you begin your ovarian stimulation injections, you’ll need to visit the clinic every two to three days for blood tests and ultrasound scans to monitor your response to the medication.
Throughout this 10-14-day phase, you’ll meet with your consultant at least twice to ensure everything is progressing as planned.
Unique to The Evewell, even though you have a dedicated consultant, you’ll benefit from the entire team’s experience and knowledge when they review your blood test results at our daily ‘All Hands’ meeting.
During this meeting, the team will collectively discuss any necessary adjustments to your treatment plans or medication. If there are any changes, you’ll be contacted by the nursing team by 7pm that day.
Egg collection is a straightforward, minor surgical procedure performed under sedation with pain relief. It usually takes about 20-30 minutes and wherever possible, your consultant will perform your egg collection, working closely with the embryology team.
Once your eggs have been collected, it’s over to our leading team of embryologists to prepare, fertilise the eggs and then monitor your embryo development.
Our embryologists are a vital part of the IVF process. With a unique combination of expertise not only in embryology but also in embryo genetics, our team have a fundamental understanding of the whole reproduction process from beginning to end, giving The Evewell a particular edge when treating fertility issues.
We typically request a sperm sample on the day of egg collection, meaning if you are having treatment with partner sperm, they will need to attend the clinic at the same time you are having your egg collection.
We have carefully considered and designed production rooms, and in some cases, sperm can be surgically retrieved.
If you are having treatment with donor sperm, this will need to be procured at least two weeks before you commence your treatment.
The collected sperm is then processed and prepared for fertilisation, either in a petri dish (IVF) or via injecting a single sperm into the egg (ICSI) if your consultant recommends this treatment – usually in the case of male factor infertility or recurrent miscarriage.
The fertilised eggs, now called embryos, are then monitored for their development over the next five to six days. During this time, the embryos are kept in time-lapse incubators and are monitored 24/7 for their growth and development to ensure they are healthy and viable.
This careful observation and monitoring is crucial for increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy. Using time-lapse incubators means our embryologists can understand the development of the embryo and only select the best-quality embryos for transfer to the uterus.
Before your egg collection, you will have discussed the best plan regarding your embryo transfer, including if you’re planning a fresh or frozen transfer and any additional tests you may need to maximise your chances of pregnancy.
If having a fresh transfer, you’ll be asked to attend the clinic and will be made as comfortable as possible for the procedure, which is usually over in half an hour.
The period after embryo transfer is known as the “two-week wait”. During this time, you’ll be advised to rest and avoid strenuous activities.
You’ll be prescribed medications, such as progesterone, to support the uterine lining and enhance embryo implantation. Depending on your circumstances, you may be required to visit the clinic for monitoring blood tests during this stage.
Approximately two weeks later, it’ll be time to do your pregnancy test. We know first-hand how difficult the two-week wait is, so we’re always available for support.
Our team provides ongoing support and guidance both on our website and via Instagram during this critical waiting period.
At The Evewell we tailor fertility and IVF treatment to your unique needs in order to provide you with the best possible chance of success on your journey to starting a family.
We don’t believe in one size fits all. Our individualised treatment plans are designed for each and every patient, ensuring we give you the options you deserve to build a family.
While you’ll have a dedicated consultant, our daily team meetings bring together specialists – including embryologists and nurses – to ensure you benefit from the collective knowledge and proven expertise of our entire team.

We don’t want you to go through extensive unnecessary treatment, so instead, we consider every patient holistically.
This means that once you’ve met with your consultant and decided if IVF is the preferred way to achieve a pregnancy, you’ll receive a personalised plan designed around your specific fertility history and current situation.
You’ll also get to spend time with one of our leading embryologists, giving you the chance to understand this fundamental stage of the IVF process.
With proven expertise and outstanding results, we stand apart by offering a unique blend of gynaecology and fertility expertise through all our consultants.
This comprehensive understanding of the female body allows us to tailor the least invasive and most effective approach to achieving pregnancy.
Even though you have a dedicated consultant, you benefit from the entire team’s experience and knowledge when they review your progress at our daily ‘All Hands’ meeting.
We put our patients’ clinical needs at the centre of our decision-making. We do as much as possible in the pre-transfer stage to optimise the chances of success by incorporating gynaecological investigations and further tests into your treatment plans and not selecting patients based on age or fertility history.
And thanks to our highly skilled team, we’re able to treat a range of infertility, even where other clinics have deemed treatment unlikely to succeed.
That’s why we’re proud to show our success rates, along with honest and clear representations of exactly how we have helped create families.
We do everything we can to work around your life and your cycle. This means your IVF treatment will only start when you’re ready. This means no extra hormonal medication to align your cycle with our schedules, we just ask for you to call us when your period starts. This might mean more work for us, but it means less stress on your body.
We know that fertility treatments are not only an emotional commitment but also a financial one too, and with the ultimate goal of finding the quickest, easiest, and least invasive way to get you pregnant, we’ve made sure our prices are competitive.
We always recommend to patients that when comparing prices between clinics they ensure that they have prices for all the elements that a clinic expects a patient to pay for.
Find out more about IVF costs on our dedicated IVF pricing page or contact one of our Patient Services team today to further discuss treatment costs.
Our patient reviews and success stories speak for themselves. Every patient is asked to complete a patient feedback form, and we’re delighted with our consistently high patient satisfaction ratings, 100% attributed to our incredible team putting in the work, day in and day out, to support our patients through their journey, however it may end.
The egg collection procedure takes approximately 30 minutes. After the procedure is completed, you’ll be transferred to the recovery room. The total time required to be in the clinic is around two hours.
You’ll be sedated during the procedure, so you won’t feel anything, and will be given painkillers to help with any pain immediately after. If you have any ongoing pain, which will mostly feel like period pain, you will be advised to take paracetamol and rest for the remainder of the day.
If you decide to freeze your embryos, either as part of a ‘freeze all’, a PGT-A or a fertility preservation procedure, these will be cryogenically preserved and can be stored for a maximum of 55 years.
We advise taking a pregnancy test 12-days after your embryo transfer. This “Two Week Wait” can be difficult, and we appreciate a very anxious time. We have a Support area on this website with advice as to how to get through this difficult time.
This is dependent on your medical situation, and any previous fertility treatment. We recommend speaking to your consultant for their advice.
